About MORE THAN JOHN

John
He grew up in a small village in the southeast of Sweden. The house he lived in was beautiful, filled with love and care, and it was here that John was shaped into the musician he is today. Far from the music industry and big stages, John found his voice in the quiet, surrounded by nature and a supportive family.
John’s journey took a turn when his aunt’s boyfriend—a lifelong music industry professional—heard him singing and playing in his room. Completely taken by John’s voice and talent, he told him:
You can’t sit here, in the middle of the woods, with a voice like this, your songs, and the talent you obviously have! Let me help you share it. The world needs your music.
And so, the journey began. After a series of gigs and early studio recordings, John started collaborating with Alex Hellid of Entombed, marking the beginning of his relationship with Threeman Recordings.
The debut single, “Wild Mountain Thyme,” was recorded at Riksmixningsverket (RMV) Studio on Skeppsholmen island in Stockholm. Co-produced, recorded, and mixed by Linn Fijal, with production by Alex Hellid, the song was given a rich sound that balances folk tradition with a contemporary touch. The final mastering was completed by Frida Claeson-Johansson at Svenska Grammofonstudion Mastering Berlin, located within the iconic Hansa building in Berlin.
Two more singles are set for release, leading up to the full album, OIIIIO, scheduled for Record Store Day on April 19, 2025. The album will be available in both digital and physical formats, bringing John’s unique sound to audiences far beyond his quiet beginnings in rural Sweden.
